Instructor: Brenda Hash, PSA
This workshop will target honing the portrait skills of intermediate to advance artists, therefore knowledge in the use of your choice of medium (soft pastel or oil paint, no oil pastels) will be assumed. Our focus will be on recognizing and producing correct anatomy of the face, neck and shoulders. Discussion of classical proportions of the head and common mistakes made in their construction will be included. Students will work from the model starting with the practice of good sketching techniques for accurate placement of features, moving to identification of light vs shadow shapes, transitioning to massing in of initial blocks of color and finishing with careful development of each facial feature with emphasis on getting a perfect likeness.
