Opened in October 2013, the Georgetown Art Center is an anchor arts & culture institution in Georgetown in our community.
The year of 2016 was another banner year at the Art Center. We offered ten exhibits, with their companion artist talks and receptions, all free to the public. The exhibits included solo shows of bronze sculptures by Ho Baron and a custom installation by David Chapman Lindsay, precious metal jewelry by Ana M Lopez & enameled vessels by Harlan Butt who are both premier contemporary metalsmiths, and a United States debut of brand new works inspired by Paris from the internationally acclaimed Carlos Estévez. We continued partnering with local art & historic organizations to sponsor our twice annual Plein Aire Paint Out events, and for the ninth year, hosted the highly competitive Art Hop, featuring five categories of over 160 art works from Texas artists. Another partnership with the City of Georgetown allowed us to offer children’s scholarships for our very successful Summer Art Camps, which are planned for the coming year.
The Art Center is dependent on the participation of our volunteers, our members’ dues and donor support in order to fulfill our commitment to providing the Georgetown community with memorable art experiences; experiences that are accessible and significant to all through Exhibits, Education, Events, and Engagement; experiences that bring art and people together for enjoyment, discovery, and learning.
