Gallery Georgetown is a community-wide arts appreciation event and tour of art galleries, exhibition spaces, and studios. Gallery Georgetown is in its fourth year of fostering relationships among arts businesses, the local arts community, and the City of Georgetown while demonstrating the value and fun of arts participation for Georgetown residents and visitors. Gallery Georgetown is also a Georgetown Art Center benefit and a great night out—you will support the art center if you buy the evening’s original 5×7 artwork and silent auction artwork.

Gallery Georgetown is an evening of exploring galleries and their current exhibits. You can visit the links – below to the  right to learn more about each venue on the tour.

Each art venue listed at right will be open to the public from 5 PM to 8:30 PM on Saturday, October 10 to showcase an art exhibition, a performance, or a demonstration.  Silent auction items will be available for bid at each venue, as well.  Listing of all the locations will be available (while supplies last) at each venue and participants are encouraged to visit as many venues as possible before adjourning to the Art Center at 8:30.

The Gallery Georgetown Shuttle will run among the venues, or you can drive yourself.

At 6 PM, the Georgetown Art Center will open as well and will showcase and sell donated 5×7 art pieces, $50 5×7 art pieces on consignment from the Gallery Georgetown art venues, as well as silent auction artwork. After the public tour ends at 8:30 and the other venues close, everyone will gather at the Georgetown Art Center for a special anniversary cake cutting and a reception to announce the winners of the silent auction pieces.  Winners will be announced at 9:30 PM.

The last Gallery Georgetown Shuttle run will happen at 10 PM when the party concludes.

If you are intrigued, please join us for an evening of touring Georgetown’s art galleries, experiencing art, food & fun all to benefit the Georgetown Art Center. Even better, join us for our Preview Party Thursday, October 8 at 7 PM at Union on Eighth, or a Painting Party.

So Where Do the Silent Auction Artworks Come From? Exhibited Artists!

Many of the artists who have exhibited their work in the Georgetown Art Center’s acclaimed exhibits have a fondness for the center, and are generously splitting the proceeds of their work placed in the silent auction with the art center. Artists will be donating work to the Gallery Georgetown silent auction, and half of the proceeds will go to the art center.  One such piece is by Leslie Kell, the artist whose work graces the cover of the Georgetown Arts & Culture Guide for 2015-16.

So Where Do the 5×7 Artworks Come From? The Gallery Georgetown venues and Painting Parties held between Sept. 19-30!

This year we are providing our many local artists (community members) an opportunity to participate by creating a 5×7 in one of three free painting parties. We are partnering with two local painting studios and hosting one at the Georgetown Art Center. A total of 60 community 5x7s will be included in this year’s Gallery Georgetown. Each of the 5×7 paintings will be available for $20. In addition, select Gallery Georgetown venues will provide 5×7’s painted by their artists. These 5×7’s will be sold at the Art Center on a consignment basis for $50 each. Proceeds from the sale of the $50 5×7’s will be split 50/50 with the Art Center and the Gallery Georgetown venues.
