  • The Georgetown Art Center 816 S Main St Georgetown, TX, 78626 USA (map)

Creative Paper Art Workshop with Laurie Carswell - Second Date Added Due to Demand!

Saturday, March 25, 2023 - 1:00 PM- 4:00 PM

Come join Creative Paper Artist Laurie Carswell and cut and glue a pocket-view landscape. You may cut sky blues out of denim ads and tear creamy white clouds out of wedding dresses! The options for individual style and creativity are endless. Laurie's paper art uses cut magazine pieces like a painter would use paint to build a playful landscape. During this three-hour workshop, she will present the fundamentals of her process and give you a few helpful principles of color theory so you can complete your own floral collage based on a photograph of your choice. You go home with a finished piece ready to display and a gift from the Artist (a greeting card printed with her artwork).

Please note that spaces are limited.

Enrollment Fee: $75

Please be sure to review all of our education event policies prior to enrolling in any GAC-sponsored event.

About Your Instructor:

I build collages to tell a visual story, one layer at a time. I “paint” with torn paper, magazines, newspaper, handmade paper, cut paper—anything I can manipulate in layers to create art with dimension and texture. As a former ceramic sculptor and set designer, I enjoy using paper to bring ideas and imagery to life in a multi-dimensional way. Incorporating personal pictures, hidden text, wedding invitations, and keepsakes gives my work another layer of meaningful depth.
